Firefighters were called to a small blaze at Marsden Point oil refinery near Whangarei overnight.
The fire started about 12.30am and was out by 2am, Fire Service northern communications shift manager Scott Osmond said.
"It certainly wasn't anything major," he said.
The fire was not thought to be suspicious but the exact cause was not clear.
