Armed police have surrounded a Canterbury property this morning after a man threatened to shoot himself.
The armed offenders squad was called to the house in Pines Beach, near Kaiapoi, about 10am after a woman told police her partner was threatening to "put a bullet in his head", police said.
Officers were still at the scene late this morning.
