Kiwi soldiers have recovered a big cache of weapons in Afghanistan after a tip off from an Afghan civilian.
The New Zealand Provincial Reconstruction Team in Bamiyan found seven 107mm rockets, six mortar rounds and 18 boxes of ammunition.
Most of the cache was taken away for disposal elsewhere but some unstable explosives were blown up on the site.
"Just the fact that those materials will be taken out of circulation and ultimately be destroyed enhances the security of the Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces," said US Army's Colonel Mike Berry on an American website.
