A 71-year-old man was attacked, a car smashed up and a large house window shattered as young gatecrashers attacked a quiet gathering of workmates in Hastings on Saturday night.
The man, understood to be the father of one of the workers, was treated in Hawkes Bay Hospital after the incident in which at least 10 people burst in on the backyard gathering about 9pm in Oliphant Rd, Raureka, gathering garden stakes and other items as weapons.
