Auckland City councillor Sam Lotu-Iiga last night quit the council to concentrate on his duties as National MP for Maungakiekie.
Mr Lotu-Iiga, the representative for the Tamaki-Maungakiekie ward, served less than a term on council, and was part of its Citizens & Ratepayers faction.
He was elected as an MP at last year's general election.
