The Government is to review the legal aid system.
Justice Minister Simon Power said Dame Margaret Bazley, a retired public service chief executive, would chair the review team, which would consider how legal aid could be restructured to give cost-effective services and alternative approaches to manage or reduce costs.
Public consultation would begin soon and proposals would be announced early next year.
