Summer in Auckland wouldn't be complete without a crazy outdoor dance party and today Frontier Touring and Future Music Group have announced a new mini-festival: Future Sound System.
Taking place at Mt Smart Stadium on Friday February 27, the festival will be headlined by one of the world's biggest DJs in 2014, Avicii.
The 23-year-old has become a dominant force in the world of EDM, with Wake Me Up (featuring Aloe Blacc) becoming the fastest selling single in 2013. It charted at number one in 84 territories and his debut album True has now sold over 5 million copies.
His latest single The Days is from his forthcoming EP The Days/Nights, which will be released in December, so you can expect even more hits in his live show, which reportedly includes 3D mapping, LED and projections.
He'll be joined by Grammy Award-winning American DJ Afrojack and 18 year old rising star Martin Garrix, along with local favourites Dan Aux and Aroha.
The show will be held on the stadium field in front of a purpose built stage with full live production, and the field will be split into two areas: an R18 "Beats" zone right in front of the stage and an R15 "Bass" zone, which will have an R18 bar within it, designed to give party goers the option of a more relaxed atmosphere.
Tickets go on pre-sale on Monday December 8 at 2pm, with general sales from midday on Wednesday December 10 through Ticketmaster.
