Review: Russell Baillie
The debut offering - bar a take-notice track on the recent label compilation - is a neatly nutty five tracks brimming with ideas, mixing lo-fi freaked-out folk rock (including a lilting version of the Beatles' And I Love Her) with occasional noisier anti-social urges (the fuzz attack of Candy Arse).
Lead track Moscow Snow is a sweet waltz-time whirl slightly reminiscent of the Pixies, while the dreamy pop nonsense of Hey Little is the other highlight, both songs helping make a strong case that Pluto just might be another inspired out-of-the-bedroom discovery from the label which previously brought us Darcy Clay and Voom.
