Fonterra has recalled two of its butter products and is investigating, after two customers each found metal objects in their butter.
A recall was issued last night for Mainland Salted Butter 500g with a best before date of 10 January 2013 and batch number CV12, and Anchor Salted Butter 500g with a best before date of 26 January 2013 and batch number CV28, after receiving complaints of a fine metal objects inside two products.
The objects are understood to have been metal pins.
Fonterra Brands Managing Director Peter McClure said the recall was a precaution.
"We advise anyone with family or friends who may have bought this product to contact them in case they don't see or hear this announcement,'' TVNZ reported him saying.
There were no reports of injury.
The products should not be consumed but can be returned to the place of purchase with the appropriate packaging for a full refund.
