RIO DE JANEIRO: Police in northeastern Brazil have recommended that three Roman Catholic priests be formally charged with sexually abusing boys.
The recommendation was contained in a report that police in Alagoas state gave to prosecutors yesterday following their investigation of an 83-year-old priest allegedly filmed having sex with a young man.
Monsignor Luiz Marques Barbosa has been under house arrest for two weeks. Police have also asked prosecutors to file abuse charges against two other priests.
