A head-on crash on the Rimutaka Hill Rd late last year has led to a woman being fined and disqualified from driving for six months.
The Masterton District Court heard that Shjaan Eryn Versey, 29, of Wellington, was travelling south on the Featherston side of the hill on December 30 when she hit an oncoming car head-on, after she had over-corrected her own vehicle.
The driver of the other car needed to be cut free from their vehicle, while their passenger received a broken ankle. Versey also broke her ankle, Judge Peter Hobbs heard.
Versey faced two charges of careless driving causing injury, to which she pleaded guilty.
Versey's lawyer James Elliott said the driving conditions on the day of the crash were appalling and that she was not familiar with the road. He said that, of her own volition, she would undertake a defensive driving course.
