Travel writer Jim Eagles recently wrote a column for Herald Travel describing his experience travelling from Auckland Airport to the CBD on the SkyBus service.
Read the company's response to Mr Eagles below:
Dear Jim,
We are sorry to hear your recent experience with Skybus didn't meet expectations. Recently, Skybus moved its Auckland City bus stop from downtown Queen Street to the new depot at 396 Queen Street.
And we introduced a free shuttle service from Customs Street and Hobson Street to the new Queen Street Hub.
We introduced these changes because of the disruptions in the downtown area, so that travellers beginning their Airport journey from the hub are provided with a shorter, and significantly more certain Airport travel time.
Our tracking indicates that if we didn't adapt to the downtown disruptions, there would be significant time delays and uncertainty for travellers. Our shuttles are significantly faster and more agile than a full size bus in the face of roadworks and diversions. They leave every 10 minutes, meeting our Airport-bound buses at the new hub. Very rarely, travellers may wait ten minutes at both stops and we are sorry to hear you experienced this.
The shuttle service is one of the many solutions Skybus has introduced since launching in October. Our 'kids ride free' policy, free Wi-Fi on all buses, new ticketing app, discounted online fares, no excess luggage fees and expanded city-to-airport timetable (an extra 188 trips a week!) are proving popular with customers.
We hope you will consider Skybus for future travel and that you will have a better and more enjoyable experience.
