Fire crews tackled a spreading fire in a pine shelter belt in Feilding on Tuesday evening.

A Fire and Emergency NZ shift manager said fire services were called to a vegetation fire on Lethbridge Rd about 5pm.

The callout was upgraded to a second alarm due to the size of the fire.

Crews from Feilding, Palmerston North and Manawatū brought two pumps, two tankers and four rural pumps to the incident.

“It was a vegetation fire of 60m by 40m.”
