New Zealand fertiliser company Ballance Agri-Nutrients' boss says from now on they are going to avoid having their raw materials stopping in South Africa on their long journey here.

This follows a shipment of phosphate being seized on its way from Morrocan-occupied Western Sahara on claims the rocks were illegally sourced.

Ballance's CEO says the company has done everything by the book.
