Some of the lesser lights in Auckland First XV rugby will get the chance to show their wares following the release of SKY's College Rugby TV schedule.
While no less than 11 1A games will be shown live this season on the Rugby Channel, on May 15 the clash between Mt Roskill Grammar and Pakuranga College in the always competitive 1B competition will feature as the curtainraiser to the Blues-Bulls Super Rugby fixture at Eden Park.
A pre-season match at Eden Park on April 10 will also be televised in a rare break from tradition, with Macleans (of the 1B grade) meeting North Harbour 1A First XV Takapuna Grammar. That will act as the curtainraiser to the Blues-Brumbies match.
There are also two key clashes from Counties Manukau's First XV competition on the box. On May 30, Pukekohe High School, seeking a renaissance after a difficult 2014, host runners-up Manurewa High School, while champions Wesley College host Manurewa three weeks later on June 20.
The Auckland region will have the lion's share of the games, 21 out of the scheduled 38 - the most since the Rugby Channel first screened this level of rugby in 2010 - but this does not include the finals and Top 4 tournament, traditionally held at Rotorua Boys' High School in early September.
Four North Harbour 1A games will be shown, including a first look at the promising Orewa College side, twice, on May 16 and June 12 against heavyweights Massey High and Westlake Boys' High.
The Auckland 1A competition kicks off with a match-up between two of the contenders - MAGS and Sacred Heart - at Eden Park as curtainraiser to the Blues-Force on May 2. June 13 sees the 202nd playing of the Auckland Grammar-King's clash, one of the great traditionals on the New Zealand, let alone Auckland, schoolboy calendar.
July 25 features a doubleheader, with the early game a probable Hibernian Shield encounter for Sacred Heart hosting St Peter's, followed by Auckland Grammar v St Kentigern, a replay of the 2012-14 1A finals.
