Auckland rugby captain Xavier Rush has been fined and given a written warning for a drunken night out last Thursday.
Auckland Rugby Union chief executive David White met Rush today, and said in a statement that Rush was fined for the incident, and for missing Blues training the following morning.
"I've expressed the union's disappointment...his actions were unacceptable. He let himself and the team down badly," White said.
White added Rush had been an outstanding contributor to Auckland rugby this season, including leading the team to the NPC title. No further action would be taken.
A photograph of the former All Blacks No 8 appeared in a Sunday newspaper yesterday, Rush clearly the worse for wear.
Witnesses told the paper Rush was slumped outside a service station in suburban Parnell for more than four hours.
