World MX2 motocross champion Ben Townley is chasing one more title before he takes a well deserved winter break.
The Belgium-based New Zealand rider scored a double win in penultimate round of the Dutch championship in Veldhoven to lead the standings on 229 points followed by Portugal's Rui Goncalves on 201.
Townley also pitted his KTM250cc bike against the 450cc machines in the Super Final race and wowed the Dutch fans by recovering from an opening lap crash to finish second to Belgium's Kevin Strijbos (Suzuki 450cc).
"I really enjoyed myself today, I was having so much fun out there in the sand especially with the pressure of the world championship all gone.
"I still have one more round to go and hopefully I can wrap up my first Dutch title in two weeks time," Townley said.
Championship Standings: Ben Townley (NZ KTM) 229 points 1, Rui Goncalves Rui (Portugal, Yamaha) 201 2, Jan van Hastenberg (Netherlands KTM) 190 3.
Super Final: Kevin Strijbos (Belgium, Suzuki) 1, Townley (NZ KTM) 2, Pyrhonen Anti (Finland, KTM) 3.
