A weakening front moves north over the North Island today, and a ridge builds over the South Island tonight. The ridge moves east across the country tomorrow. Northwesterlies develop over the South Island later tomorrow as a front approaches Fiordland from the Tasman Sea. On Tuesday, a ridge over the North Island moves away to the east, while a strengthening north to northwest flow with embedded fronts affects the South Island. The fronts move northwards over central and northern New Zealand on Wednesday, followed a narrow ridge over the South Island. The ridge moves over New Zealand on Thursday, while a low pressure system from the Tasman Sea approaches the North Island.
