A front moves slowly northeast over the South Island today, while a humid northerly flow strengthens over the North Island. Tomorrow the front moves from the South Island onto the North Island. A ridge of high pressure then moves onto the South Island. On Saturday the front moves away to the east, and a ridge of high pressure builds over New Zealand. The ridge dominates on Sunday. On Monday, the ridge covers central and northern parts of the country while a northwesterly flow strengthens over the south of the South Island.
