Area Description:

Kapiti

Situation:

A ridge of high pressure prevails over Aotearoa/New Zealand today. Tomorrow, the ridge of high pressure lies over southern and central New Zealand, while a weak trough embedded in an easterly flow affects the north of the North Island. On Tuesday, the ridge of high pressure moves away to the east of New Zealand, while a subtropical low makes its way towards the north Tasman Sea. On Wednesday, a northeasterly flow covers the country, while the deep subtropical low moves southwards to the west of the North Island. During Thursday, the deep subtropical low will probably remain centred west of the country, however, it is expected to intensify and push frontal rain onto New Zealand. On Friday, the low pressure system will eventually move onto the South Island, while associated frontal rain moves across the country.
