The Waitangi National Trust Board has a new chairman.
Former New Zealand First MP Pita Paraone replaces Jeremy Williams who has ended his 3-year term but remains on the board.
Paraone was born in the area and has been on the board since 1997.
Under Mr Williams chairmanship, The Waitangi National Trust, which oversees the Treaty House and grounds, has developed a new visitor welcome centre which opens on Monday, and overseen a $5 million refurbishment of the Treaty House, including a new roof.
