Three more South Auckland youths have been arrested in connection with gang fights that have left several teenagers with serious injuries.
The arrests came yesterday as a team of 36 police investigated a brawl in the early hours of Sunday morning which left a 17-year-old seriously injured and an 18-year-old fighting for his life.
On Tuesday, youth gang member George Naea, 17, was arrested in connection with that attack.
Naea, whose father Iulio Naea Kilepoa was found dead hours after the street fight, is also accused of being involved in an attack near Aorere Park, Mangere, on October 14. In that case three innocent teenagers were injured, one so badly that he is partially paralysed and unable to speak.
Naea was charged in relation to that incident with intentionally causing grievous bodily harm, and with assault.
Yesterday, police arrested two more teenagers in connection with the Aorere Park attack.
One is an 18-year-old who was due in the Manukau District Court late yesterday.
The other is a 15-year-old who is due in the Youth Court next week.
Both face wounding charges.
A further eight teens faced similar charges in relation to the Aorere Park incident when they appeared in court last week.
Counties-Manukau police spokeswoman Angeline Barlow said inquiries into the incidents had also resulted in an 18-year-old being arrested in connection with a June incident.
In that case a 14-year-old boy was set upon by a large group of teenagers and stabbed.
The 18-year-old charged in connection with the case is due in the Manukau District Court today.
Police have set up a phone line, 0800 4 BILLY (0800 4 24559), for information relating to the incidents.
