Wearing a T-shirt which celebrated the life of her late boyfriend Connor Morris, Millie Elder-Holmes has described her biggest challenge ahead of her Fight for Life bout on Saturday.
Elder-Holmes, who is determined to honour the memory of Morris - a patched member of the Headhunters gang who died in August following a head injury suffered during a confrontation in West Auckland - said ahead of her fight against Shortland Street actor Frankie Adams that the attention was the toughest thing to get used to.
"The attention. All the media attention and all the obligations that I have to meet ... so that's probably been the most challenging for me."
Asked how she would spend the next three days before her fight at Claudelands Arena, Elder-Holmes, the daughter of the late broadcaster Sir Paul Holmes, said: "I'm just going to hang out with my family and wind down for Saturday."
Adams, 20, was not present due to filming commitments which will also prevent her from being at tomorrow's weigh-in.
A Duco events spokesman said she would weigh-in on Saturday. Both women are expected to tip the scales at about 68kg.
Elder-Holmes, 26, may be encouraged by the TAB's odds, which make her a slight favourite at $1.80 against $1.95 for an Adams' victory.
The pair will fight in the first bout of the night about 8pm, with the main event of Joseph Parker versus Brazilian Irineu Beato Costa Junior expected to start about 11pm.
Also on the undercard are Monty Betham v Carlos Spencer, Jeff Horn v Robson Assis, Willie Mason v Ben Tameifuna and Dave "Brown Butterbean" Letele v Loni "Tongan Bear" Uhila.
