A rescue helicopter was called in to lift an injured Australian man off Mt Ngongotaha, on the western side of Lake Rotorua, early yesterday afternoon.
The Tenon Rescue Helicopter service said the 21-year-old Brisbane man was riding a quad bike which rolled about 30m down a gully.
He was flown to Rotorua Hospital and is in a stable condition.
