LONDON - Lady Davina Windsor, daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, is set to marry a New Zealand builder this week.
Romance blossomed for the 26-year-old, who is 20th in line to the throne, when she met New Zealander Gary Lewis while holidaying in Bali four years ago.
Former sheep shearer Mr "Gazza" Lewis is believed to be the first Maori to marry into the British Royal Family.
"Denny and Gazza", as they were said to be known to neighbours and friends, will tie the knot at Kensington Palace on Saturday.
Mr Lewis, 33, who comes from Gisborne on the east coast of New Zealand's North Island, is a passionate surfer with an 11-year-old son from a former relationship.
Mr Lewis is a nephew of writer Witi Ihimaera.
Mr Lewis, who has been described as a "renovator", has said his famous future in-laws are "no different to anyone else".
His father, Larry, was a champion shearer in New Zealand in the 1980s and his mother, Viki Carr, previously worked as a maid.
Lady Davina, whose father is the Queen's cousin, keeps a low profile and does not carry out any official royal duties.
Until recently, the couple, who met three years ago on holiday in Bali, lived an ordinary life in Fisherton St, Grey Lynn for 15 months.
The house the couple lived in is a villa converted into two flats.
Their two-bedroom residence was in a quiet street, with grape vines covering a quaint courtyard.
The newlyweds are expected to settle in the UK after a low-key ceremony in Kensington Palace's chapel.
