The motorcyclist who was fatally injured on Wednesday afternoon in East Auckland has been described as an "inspirational leader".
Brett Howard Dodson, 54, of Auckland, died at the scene of the crash on Ti Rakau Dr in Burswood, which is near Botany.
He was a programme manager in the technology and digital section of Genesis Energy.
'We were incredibly lucky to have Brett working with us at Genesis," said Jennifer Cherrington-Mowat, executive general manager of technology and digital at Genesis.
"He was an inspirational leader who got the best from his team. He had an incredible ability to motivate and bring everyone on the journey.
"He was smart, enormous fun and a great person to bounce ideas off.
"This is a tragic loss and our thoughts are with his family."
Dodson's LinkedIn page lists his past associations with numerous organisations, including Auckland Council, Auckland Transport and Telecom.
The police said their investigation into the crash was ongoing.
They appealed for witnesses to approach them.
The crash, which occurred at about 4.30pm, involved a motorcycle and a bus.
