Police are still awaiting toxicology results as they investigate the cause of a fatal bus crash that claimed the life of a father and baby son.
Chris Tobin and his 1-year-old son Jack Kronfeld-Tobin died after their car collided head-on with a double decker bus just minutes from their central Auckland home last month.
Tobin, 51, died at the scene and life support for his baby son was turned off three days later. Two-year-old daughter Elle was also badly injured in the crash but survived. She has now been discharged from Starship Hospital.
Police Serious Crash Unit senior constable Karl Bevin said investigations were continuing into the cause of the crash.
Police had spoken to the driver of a blue BMW who witnessed the crash but was not involved.
The investigation team was now waiting on the results of tests which included a toxicology report.
A police spokesman said it was standard in any crash investigation to request toxicology reports to indicate whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.
A Givealittle page has raised nearly $50,000 for his family with wife Olivia Kronfeld posting on the site she had been left overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and generosity.
