A fire has ripped through a house in Tokoroa, in the South Waikato this afternoon.
Fire fighters were called to the fire at a three bedroom house on Nevis Crescent at 2.27pm today.
Tokoroa senior fire station officer Ian Wellings said the house was well ablaze when the two fire engines from the Tokoroa Fire Station arrived.
"The house was extensively damaged. When the fire brigade arrived the property was well involved.
All that remained of the house was the roof, he said.
The occupants were not home at the time of the fire.
The Fire Service is still on site and is dampening down the scene and a fire safety officer is on his way to determine the cause of the fire.
