This weekend's Auckland Beer Festival has been forced make some last minute changes after a licensing delay from the council.
Beer will now be served in 165 millilitre serves for three dollars, and will stop being served at 8.00pm rather than at 9.00pm as originally planned.
Event organiser Andrew Somerville says they applied for their licence in December last year but the introduction of the new Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act meant they have been left waiting for a result.
"Events that are going through at the moment are being used as a bit of a test case for a precedent. We really didn't receive our formal license until Tuesday afternoon, which really has pushed us quite close to the event."
