A man is in a serious condition after a hit-and-run in Wainuiomata last night.
Police said a pedestrian was believed to have knocked down by a car on Norfolk Road, between Wellington and Upper Fitzherbert roads about 10.30pm.
The vehicle then left the scene.
The injured man was taken to Wellington Hospital in a serious condition.
Central communications acting-shift commander Mark Oliver said police were speaking to someone in relation to the incident and were not looking for anyone else.
Mr Oliver said the man is in an induced coma and in a "very serious condition".
