A Christchurch man has been charged with careless use of a firearm after he allegedly fired a bullet from a pistol through two walls into his 15-year-old daughter's abdomen.
She was rushed to Christchurch Hospital after she was shot about 11.45pm on Monday.
The father was taking the pistol out of his gun safe when it went off.
It is understood he had not unloaded the gun before he put it away.
He will appear in the Christchurch District Court on June 20.
