A 4.1 magnitude earthquake rattled much of the lower North Island this morning.
The 6.46am tremor struck 20km north-east of Dannevirke, in Southern Hawke's Bay, at a depth of 40km, GNS Science reported.
It was reported to have been felt as far south as Waikawa Beach, 17km south-west of Levin.
