Police are hunting two armed men who held up a pair of security guards delivering cash in Hastings this morning.
Their getaway car was found burnt out a few minutes later.
One pointed a pistol at the guards then hit one on the head in Heretaunga Street East about 7.30am, Inspector Michael Coleman of police central communications said.
The men stole a black pelican cash case on wheels - containing cash -- then left in a dark coloured Subaru Legacy, reported stolen on June 14.
The car was found burnt out a few minutes after the robbery behind the Mayfair Shops in Hastings, Mr Coleman said.
The men were described as Maori in their mid 20s, wearing dark clothing.
