Two men face a charge of attempted murder following the serious assault of a man in Wanaka earlier this month.
Police said they were still investigating the assault, which took place in the Night and Day store, on Ardmore St in Wanaka, about 3.15am on Saturday May 9.
Two men were arrested in relation to the assault, and face a number of charges.
Police said as a result of the investigation, and with the assistance of an ESR scientist, additional charges have been filed against the two men, including one of attempted murder.
Both men would appear in the Invercargill District Court today in relation to the new charge.
The victim remains in a critical condition in the Dunedin Hospital.
