Paddy Stuart found himself in Ahipara with a mate after drug squad detectives came looking for them in Hamilton. They went out the back window and kept going until they found themselves in the Far North. Decades later, Paddy’s life survived twists and turns, and love affair with the bottle, until someone saw a spark of magic in him and fixed him up with a wood-working conference in Canada.
