A Tātau Kōrero: Tommy Watts

In this series, we wanted to find out who are our people in Te Tairāwhiti 250 years after the arrival of Lieutenant James Cook and his crew on the Endeavour, and what are the things that make up our community including insights, reflections, views and opinions. Tommy Watts is a Wairoa local who loves motocross. His father got him started in the sport and he has risen through the ranks and last year he won the National Junior Championships. It’s not all riding around, as it takes a lot of work to train on the bike in Wairoa and keep up with school. He boards in Napier and goes to Napier Boys High School. Tommy talks to us about his love of biking, his family being a driving force behind his success, and living in Wairoa.
