A low voter turnout could help John Banks beat Christine Fletcher in the hotly contested battle for the Auckland City mayoralty today.
With only a 39 per cent voter turnout by yesterday, Mrs Fletcher's hopes of pulling back Mr Banks' 5-point lead in a poll last weekend appear slim.
