A quarter of them would happily ditch turkey for a different lunch, half wouldn't bother sending Christmas cards and 40 per cent would cancel visits to the in-laws. Given the chance to put on the pinny, one in five men would radically change the Christmas Day menu.
A fifth of the anti-turkey brigade would choose steakand chips while another fifth would simply order a takeaway, they told the survey commissioned by the Red Tractor food standards watchdog.
Children also have strong ideas about the way they would like to celebrate Christmas. Forty per cent would rather Santa brought them time with their parents than a sackful of presents, a separate study for holiday company Butlins found.
