Over the past weeks I have shown you how to go about updating your wardrobe and make draws to fit the units. With the last bit of space left in the walk-in wardrobe it is a good idea to build a shoe rack - make that two racks to avoid any arguments. These come with adjustable shelves to suit any type of shoes or boots.
Step 1 - On your work bench lay the side panels side by side and flush top and bottom, then measure and scribe a pencil line in 40mm front and back.
Step 2 - With the aid of a square, measure up from the bottom in 200mm increments on the pencil line on the front and back, then also measure 30mm above and below this to allow for shelving adjustments.
Step 3 - Next wrap a piece of tape around the 5mm drill bit as a depth guide for the adjustable shelf supports and drill a hole on the centre of each pencil mark.
Step 4 - With all the holes drilled on the side pieces, make sure the adjustable holes line up equally when placed together. Next measure and cut a sheet of either 16mm or 9mm for your back panel to fit neatly into your size spacing and then drill 8mm evenly spaced holes all the way around.
Step 5 - Fix the side pieces flush with the back piece of the drilled holes. Now measure and cut a top shelf to fit, and fix in place by drilling 8mm down from the top side pieces to evenly spaced holes.
Step 6 - Fit the rack in place by drilling holes top, middle and bottom. Next measure and cut enough shelves to fit with about a 2mm clearance for ease of adjustment.
With the shoe rack now complete, make a shoe rack to fit on top to go right to the ceiling by following the same steps.
Then place the adjustable shelf supports in the positions to suit.
