Police hope a distinctive quilted black-hooded jacket worn by a man who attacked and stabbed the owner of a Manurewa liquor outlet last Saturday will be recognised.
The attack happened about 8 pm when the man entered the store carrying a dark-coloured backpack. After stabbing the owner twice in the back of the head, the man left the premises empty-handed and ran through a nearby car park.
He was wearing light-coloured pants and a red shirt under the quilted jacket. While in the store his face was covered with a white T-shirt.
Detective Sergeant Albie Alexander, of the Manurewa CIB, can be contacted in confidence on 268-5806 or 268-5800.
