The first stage of the $55 million upgrade and expansion at St Lukes shopping centre is finished.
Eleven new stores and a McDonald's have opened.
Westfield NZ director John Widdup said the upgrade had brought new fashion, food and lifestyle shops to the mall, including Kimberleys, Pumpkin Patch, Blitzz and Divo, a funky urban fashion and homeware store.
"The centre opened about 30 years ago and we regard it as the flagship of the Westfield portfolio. It has nearly 10 million customer visits a year," Widdup said.
When the work is finished in the middle of next year, St Lukes will have an eight-cinema multiplex, 150 fashion and lifestyle stores, a Farmers, Kmart and a Foodtown.
