Joanna Davies describes a Te Atatu Peninsula village centre that I do not recognise; it is relatively quiet and the pedestrian crossing works very well. I have never heard car horns and I have never had to wait to cross. I am a frequent user of Te Atatu Road as a motorist , pedestrian and cyclist and consider the road through the village to be safer than that between Gloria Road roundabout and Edmonton Road roundabout. Perhaps because of the congestion, traffic speeds are slow (20 to 30 k/h), the angled parking works well. Vehicles can reverse out without driving into the road and into passing cyclists and cars. All road users should remember that they are sharing the same space and I don't know that the law gives anyone priority.
Sincerely
Ken Taylor
