Mr Darby says Auckland cannot continue to get cold feet about projects that are essential for its future.
"If you think taking 90 years to do a project is fast-tracking, I think not."
CRL still #1 for Brown
It might be expensive, but the mayor says the City Rail Link is Auckland's number one project.
A marathon meeting today will see councillors put the screws to Len Brown over the $2.4 billion tunnels.
The mayor says the link is less about CBD access, and more about adding capacity to the whole rail network.
"People won't sit in the train waiting to get into the Britomart Station, which is pretty much just about log jammed now and will certainly be at capacity at the end of next year."
Mr Brown says without the City Rail Link, the network will soon fill up and future lines to the airport and the North Shore won't be possible.
