Transport
1. Set a goal to double public transport useage
Description: Set a goal to double public transport patronage to align with the Mayor's vision of creating the world's most liveable city.
Outcome: Work is under way with Auckland Transport, with a report due for completion by the end of March 2011.
2. Inner City Rail Link Business Case
Description: Complete the inner-city rail link business case to investigate the economic and transport benefits to Auckland.
Outcome: The business case was completed and announced by the Mayor on 24 November 2010.
3. Designations for the Inner City Rail Link
Description: Progression of work into securing and protecting the proposed route of the inner city rail link.
Outcome: Auckland Transport has set up a project to advance work on the designations for a quick start to the CBD rail link, subject to the Government review of the business case due mid-April 2011.
4. Designations for the Airport Rail link
Description: Request Auckland Transport to begin investigating the designations for an airport rail link.
Outcome: Auckland Transport has a contract let to undertake work and evaluate the tenders.
5. Integrated ticketing for public transport
Description: Advance the development of an integrated ticketing scheme to be operational for Rugby World Cup 2011.
Outcome: Auckland Transport has announced that phase one of an integrated ticketing scheme will be operational in time for Rugby World Cup 2011.
6. School transit plans across Auckland
Description: Support and advance work to implement school transit plans across Auckland and ensure more options are investigated.
Outcome: Auckland Transport is implementing 25 school transit plans and is undertaking a review to increase the number of transit plans for other schools. A report will be presented to the Transport Committee in March 2011 on how to advance this further.
7. Better identification of bus lanes across Auckland
Description: To ensure that current bus lanes are reviewed to find options to improve their identification across Auckland.
Outcome: Auckland Transport is reviewing all transit lanes in the region. Improved identification of bus lanes will form part of this review. The review will be completed by June 2011.
8. Improve traffic management integration across Auckland
Description: Development of plans to improve traffic systems and reduce congestion across Auckland in conjunction with the New Zealand Transport Agency.
Outcome: A new agreement is to be developed between NZTA and Auckland Transport to improve integration between key regional routes and state highways. This will include the provision of new technology and CCTV, and the review of eight key arterial routes.
9. Expand alternative transport options for Auckland
Description: Investigate options to expand alternatives to motor vehicle travel within Auckland with a focus on bus and cycle options.
Outcome: A draft discussion document to analyse existing policies, programmes and funding related to alternative transport is to be completed by March 2011.
10. Clean up Otahuhu Bus Station
Description: Improve bus facilities and amenities atOtahuhu Bus Station to provide better services and encourage increased patronage.
Outcome: Auckland Transport has begun a clean-up programme to remove vandalised bus shelters, improve public amenities and provide better security and surveillance.
11. Auckland public bike service
Description: Support a plan to provide a public bicycle service for Auckland.
Outcome: Tender documents have been prepared and the tender offer has been notified.
12. Investigate safer cycling on CBD streets
Description: Refer the Cycling Action Auckland RWC report to the Transport Committee for consideration and work with the local board and Auckland Transport on implementing any changes.
Outcome: The Transport Committee will consider the report at their next meeting.
Environment
13. Aspirational goal to reduce carbon emissions by 40 per cent
Description: A high-level feasibility report on how to achieve the goal of a 40 per cent reduction in greenhouse gases by 2025 utilising global best-practice initiatives.
Outcome: A report will be presented to the Environment & Sustainability Forum in March 2011.
14. Investigate adopting Eco-City principles across Auckland
Description: A discussion document to investigate the application and operation of the Eco-City model across Auckland.
Outcome: Preliminary and technical assessment completed with a detailed feasibility study to be completed by March, for reporting to the Environmental & Sustainability Forum in April.
15. The introduction of mobile wheelie bins for recycling in Papakura and Rodney
Description: Regionalise the recycling service in Auckland and therefore introduce wheelie bins for recycling (replacing the crates) in the two former council areas of Papakura and Rodney, as existing contracts allow.
Outcome: Wheelie bins will be rolled out in September 2011 in the former Papakura District area.
16. Expand the kokako safe zone in Hunua Regional Park
Description: This project will enhance the long-term survival of the nationally endangered kokako species through a limited expansion of the kokako safe zone by 100 hectares. It includes a pest control regime, pest monitoring, and kokako monitoring alongside promotion of the health and vitality of the forest.
Outcome: The expansion of the kokako safe zone to include a 100 hectares of intensive mammalian pest control is almost complete. Associated monitoring of pest numbers will begin prior, within the 100 day deadline. The first kokako has successfully fledged from the nest.
17. Completion of the ''open sanctuary'' within the Shakespear Regional Park
Description: Support the creation of an open and accessible sanctuary for native species by reintroducing native species to more than 500 hectares of land, providing an opportunity to conserve some of the region's threatened species and this biodiversity hotspot.
Outcome: Phase one - construction of a 1.7km pest-proof fence - is under way to be completed by the end of February. Further phases will be rolled out progressively.
18. Organic waste collection and processing
Description: The draft waste assessment and the draft Waste Management and Minimisation Plan (WMMP) will consider ongoing and new services. The strategic direction for collection and processing of organic waste will be considered as part of the waste assessment and the WMMP.
Outcome: The draft waste assessment is being finalised and will be presented to the Environmental & Sustainability Forum in February 2011. The Mayor has instructed that organic waste initiatives be considered as part of this process.
19. Investigate solar panel energy opportunities in Auckland
Description: Analysing the viability of solar energy opportunities for water heating and electricity generation within Auckland.
Outcome: A proposal to consider two options to demonstrate solar initiatives will be presented to the Environment & Sustainability Forum in March 2011.
20. Storm Water Reserve Daylighting Streams
Description: Determine the feasibility of daylighting streams to improve water quality and create recreational spaces around Auckland's waterways.
Outcome: Twenty-three sites have been assessed for their suitability to "daylight". A workshop will be completed by the end of February 2011 to complete the ranking and decide on further field work.
21. Evaluate Project Twin Streams as a regionwide initiative
Description: The suitability of extending this environmental restoration and storm water management project will be examined for other catchment areas in Auckland.
Outcome: The feasibility of extending the project is currently being assessed with an analysis of the possible catchments, budgets and funding options. This will be presented to the Environment & Sustainability Forum.
Community
22. Preserve the Suffrage Centenary Memorial in Khartoum Place
Description: Support the retention of the Suffrage Centenary Memorial as representation of a significant part of New Zealand history and unique urban landscape of Auckland.
Outcome: Council officers have completed the project plan and are currently obtaining legal advice and undertaking consultation. A report will be submitted to the Culture, Arts and Events Forum in May 2011.
23. Clean up of the CBD Yates heritage building
Description: Ensure that the extensive graffiti damage is removed and cleaned up on this heritage building.
Outcome: Clean up began in December 2010.
24. Develop Civil Defence Community Response Plans for Auckland
Description: Develop Community Response Plans to assist Auckland's communities to be more prepared for the initial stages of an emergency when emergency services may not reach them, increasing a community's resilience to a civil defence emergency.
Outcome: Community response plans are under development in the following areas: Kawakawa Bay, Snells Beach/Mahurangi, Waiheke Island, Great Barrier Island, Omaha, Wiri and Greenmount. Eight community workshops have been held and two plans were competed by 31 January 2011. A further four plans will be completed by 30 June 2011.
25. Test Auckland's Civil Defence Preparedness
Description: Undertake a practical test of Auckland's Civil Defence systems.
Outcome: The test of the effectiveness of Auckland's Civil Defence systems to be conducted March 2011.
26. Develop a Civil Defence Social Media Plan
Description: A proposal to develop civil defence awareness among Auckland's communities through social media and e-learning tools.
Outcome: Website update has commenced and e-learning and webinar platforms are under development. In place in February 2011 and tested in March 2011.
27. Review of the Homeless Action Plan
Description: Auckland Council's contribution to the Homeless Action Plan is to be reviewed to identify options for improvement. Recommendations for change will be made with updates to the action plan.
Outcome: Work is ongoing. A review of the council's contribution, improvements and recommendations for change is due in March 2011
28. Glenbrook Vintage Railway Extension
Description: Evaluate options to assist the Glenbrook Vintage Railway in extending its railway and vintage rail service.
Outcome: Council officers have been in consultation with Land Information New Zealand and the Glenbrook Railway. A report will be submitted to the Parks, Heritage and Recreation Forum in February.
29. Design the Mayoral Chains Competition
Description: A proposal for a competition to design the new Auckland Council Mayoral chains that will enable leading Auckland artists and designers to provide concepts and profile their work.
Outcome: A paper proposing a competition will be prepared for submission to the Culture, Arts and Events Forum.
30. Champion the Potter Children's Garden
Description: Support the completion and champion the opening of the Potter Children's Garden within the Auckland Botanic Garden, Manurewa.
Outcome: The Mayor officially opened the Garden on 18 November 2010.
31. Assess the Auckland Mainstreet Upgrades programme
Description: Examine the current initiatives from the former councils and the existing budget provisions and assess the potential for extending a programme of mainstreet upgrades within Auckland.
Outcome: Council officers are currently evaluating budget considerations and existing mainstreet upgrade programmes to prepare a report for the Council.
32. School Trees Programme
Description: Produce options for rolling out a ''Trees for Survival'' programme (Auckland School Trees initiative), currently active in 63 Auckland schools, across the region.
Outcome: Options have been identified for advancing the school tree planting programme. A report will be prepared for consideration by the Environment and Sustainability Forum.
Sport and Recreation
33. Formation of an Auckland Sports and Recreation Reference Group
Description: Support the formation of this reference group to work strategically with the council on key sport and recreation issues and priorities.
Outcome: Recommendations to establish a reference group were passed by the Parks, Heritage and Recreation Forum on 2 December 2010 and will be presented to the Regional Development and Operations Committee on 17 February 2011.
34. Free Swimming pools
Description: Review of the options for free swimming pools provision across Auckland.
Outcome: A review of professional and academic literature regarding the benefits of providing free swimming pools, with an analysis of three options for free pools, is under development. To be presented to the Parks, Recreation and Heritage Forum.
35. Norman Kirk Memorial Pool Upgrade
Description: Support the completion of extensive upgrades to the Norman Kirk Memorial Pools complex.
Outcome: Effective completion of the upgrade occurred on 17 December 2010, with an official opening by the Mayor on 26 January 2011.
36. New multisport facility in Papatoetoe and Manurewa
Description: Support completion of multisport building which will provide a sports and community facility catering for a variety of local sport clubs in Papatoetoe and Manurewa.
Outcome: The Papatoetoe facility was completed on 23 December 2010, with the official opening on 12 February 2011. The Manurewa facility is due to be completed in February 2011.
37. Establish Eden Park Task Force
Description: A forum to ensure that Eden Park delivers quality events by engaging with all relevant stakeholders, including local residents.
Outcome: Established in November 2010 with representatives from Eden Park, Auckland Council, Auckland Transport, ATEED, the Police and local residents.
38. Otahuhu Swimming Pool
Description: Explore options and assess the feasibility for a new Otahuhu swimming pool.
Outcome: Council staff are analysing the options for progressing a pool facility, with recommendations to be presented to the Parks, Heritage and Recreation Forum.
39. Enhancement of sportsfields' capacity
Description: A focus on how fields can be managed in the short term to improve their utilisation and, over the long term, how greater numbers of fields, along with investment in improved drainage, artificial turf and new grass species, can be used to create greater capacity.
Outcome: Auckland Council Parks is undertaking a review of sportsfields' capacity to be presented to the Parks, Recreation and Heritage Forum.
40. Expand and increase volunteer groups to clean up our parks
Description: An investigation of how to expand and increase the existing number of volunteers and volunteer groups who actively work across our city in developing and cleaning up our parks, open spaces, streams and coastlines. This will consider how Auckland Council can attract more Aucklanders to contribute toward enhancing the natural environment and recreation opportunities.
Outcome: Auckland Council Parks is assessing the existing volunteer base and considering options to expand it. A report will be presented to the Parks, Recreation and Heritage Forum.
41. Development of kayaking and canoe trails for Auckland's coastline
Description: Support the development of kayaking and canoe trails linking Auckland's parks along the coasts of Auckland's harbours and inshore islands with simple portages to allow kayakers to take their craft from the Waitemata to Manukau, thus opening up both of Auckland's urban harbours.
Outcome: This concept plan is currently being developed within the Parks, Sports and Recreation Department.
42. A youth in sport programme for Auckland
Description: Assess the feasibility of establishing a youth in sport programme based upon the principles of the Find Your Field of Dreams concept.
Outcome: A feasibility report is currently in progress to be presented to the FYFOD board in February 2011
43. Support the completion of the Orakei Basin Boardwalk
Description: Support for the opening of the 625m walking and cycle track alongside the existing rail corridor to highlight its provision of alternative transport routes for walking and cycling.
Outcome: The Mayor officially opened the new Orakei Basin Boardwalk on 13 December 2010.
Engagement
44. Plan and begin Mayor in a Chair sessions
Description: A series of regular events to invite people to speak with the Mayor face to face, ask questions or share their thoughts and concerns about their community.
Outcome: First Mayor in the Chair held on 12 November in Aotea Square with others in Helensville and Takapuna. Regular events have been planned across Auckland for 2011.
45. Plan and begin monthly Town Hall meetings
Description: A series of informal meetings with communities across the Auckland region to encourage open and accessible democracy.
Outcome: First meeting held in Otahuhu in November. A schedule of meetings has been planned across Auckland for 2011.
46. Host an Auckland Summit
Description: A one-day event in March to launch the involvement and consultation of Auckland's communities in the development of the Auckland Plan. The summit will be followed by a comprehensive community engagement drive.
Outcome: Arrangements underway, with date set for 23 March 2011 at the Aotea Centre.
47. Support for the online People's Panel engagement of Auckland's communities
Description: The People's Panel is an online, politically-independent panel, established to give Aucklanders the opportunity to have their say. It is a highly cost-effective way of engaging communities. Consultation feedback forms, surveys and results updates will be provided to panelists regularly.
Outcome: Currently approximately 5000 people have joined the panel from across the region. Preparations are being made to use the People's Panel as a channel for the community to provide advice on the Auckland (Spatial) Plan.
48. Establish disability reference group
Description: Establish a disability reference group or similar organisation to work strategically with the council on issues and priorities affecting and related to disability in Auckland.
Outcome: Workshop to consult key stakeholders within the disability sector scheduled for 1 February 2011, with a proposal to be presented to the Social and Community Forum in February 2011.
49. Advance establishment of the Social Policy Forum
Description: Work with central government to establish and participate in the Social Policy Forum to discuss and design actions to improve the quality of life of Aucklanders.
Outcome: Proposal on terms of reference to be submitted to the Social and Community Development Forum on 3 February 2011 with first meeting scheduled for 10 March 2011.
50. Establish the Pacific Peoples Advisory Panel
Description: Prioritise the establishment of the Pacific Peoples Advisory Panel which will work with the council to identify interests and preferences of Pacific communities in regards to council strategies, policies, plans and bylaws.
Outcome: The selection panel completed a short list for membership, and announcements on selection are due at the end of February 2011.
51. Establish the Ethnic Advisory Panel
Description: Prioritise the establishment of the Ethnic Advisory Panel which will work with the council to identify interests and preferences of their representative communities in regards to council strategies, policies, plans and bylaws.

52. Establish the Youth Advisory Panel
Description: The foundation Youth Advisory Panel will enable effective youth representation and engagement with the council on region-wide matters affecting youth.
Outcome: Consultation with key stakeholders and draft proposals completed, structure agreed and selection of members is under way, to be completed by the end of March 2011.
53. Establish the Rural Advisory Panel
Description: The Rural Advisory Panel will advise Auckland Council on issues affecting rural residents and ratepayers and ensure the rural community has a say in Auckland's future.
Outcome: The Rural Advisory Panel has been established, members selected and an inaugural meeting held in December. The second meeting was scheduled for 28 January.
54. Establish the Business Advisory Panel
Description: The Business Advisory Panel will advise Auckland Council on issues affecting business, economic development, and provide advice and input in council plans and initiatives.
Outcome: Members have been invited to attend with the first meeting scheduled in March 2011.
55. Assess the ongoing representation of Auckland youth in the council structure
Description: Incorporate within the terms of reference for the new Youth Advisory Panel a provision for it to consider the most effective ongoing method for representation of Auckland youth into the future.
Outcome: The Youth Advisory Panel is currently being selected and terms of reference are being established.
Governance
56. Establish the Auckland Council Committee structure
Description: Design and implement the committee structure so that specialist committees can have informed discussion, in order to make balanced decisions or recommendations to the Governing Body. The structure also includes statutory advisory boards and non-statutory advisory panels.
Outcome: Council structure was agreed in November.
57. Propose the Auckland Council budget
Description: The Mayor is required to propose a budget for the 2011/12 year.
Outcome: At the Strategy and Finance meeting on 13 December the Mayor proposed a maximum rate increase of 4.9 per cent (as opposed to the 8.9 per cent inherited from the transition). Work is now under way to develop a budget that will deliver a number lower than this.
58. Initiate the Auckland (Spatial) Plan process
Description: Establish the process and structures, and allocate resources to develop this long-term plan with the communities of Auckland.
Outcome: Processes, structures, timelines and milestones set for adoption of the plan are consistent with statutory requirements.
59. Revolving Governing Body meetings across the region
Description: Governing Body meetings are to be held around the region so communities have the opportunity to see their council in operation and engage with it.
Outcome: A schedule of meetings and venues has been agreed with the first revolving meeting held in Orewa on Thursday, 27 January.
60. Pre-Governing Body Public forum
Description: Ensure that the public can best engage with its council.
Outcome: Standing Orders have been agreed so that before every Governing Body meeting there will be a public forum.
61. Progress webcasting for Council meetings
Description: Investigate the live webcasting of Governing Body meetings.
Outcome: A proposal has been presented to the Strategy and Finance Committee.
62. Local Board engagement
Description: A programme of meetings to ensure effective links with local boards and to advance the effective working of the co-governance model.
Outcome: Quarterly meetings with local board chairs have been scheduled. First meeting was held on 26 January 2011.
63. Opening up the Town Hall
Description: Investigate making the Town Hall more open and accessible to the public.
Outcome: A plan to ensure operational access with The Edge is currently being finalised.
64. Opening books for the ATA
Description: Analysis of budgets prepared by the Auckland Transition Agency to reveal the state of the Auckland Council's inherited finances.
Outcome: Analysis of budgets prepared by the Auckland Transition Agency (ATA) has been carried out and the implications made public. The Mayor has achieved agreement for the inherited 8.9 per cent increase to instead be a 4.9 per cent increase at most. The Council is now working to further decrease this.
65. Appoint councillors to the CCO Appointments Board
Description: Establish the CCO Strategy and Appointments Sub-Committee and appoint councillors to ensure CCOs perform according to the agreed statements of intent and achieve the council's objectives.
Outcome: CCO Strategy and Appointments Sub-Committee established as part of the council structure. Councillors have been appointed to the sub-committee. The first meeting was held on 15 December 2010.
66. Develop and adopt SOI to ensure public interest is protected by CCOs
Description: Finalise the Letters of Expectation for CCOs and develop the Statements of Corporate Intent to incorporate the protection of public interest related to open and transparent meetings.
Outcome: Letters of Expectation have been completed and presented to the Governing Body meeting on 27 January 2011. The Statements of Corporate Intent will be finalised in June 2011.
67. Regular meetings with CCO Chairs
Description: To contribute to CCO accountability, regular quarterly meetings have been scheduled with CCO Chairs to ensure they are abiding by open and transparent practices and their Statements of Corporate Intent.
Outcome: Quarterly meetings with CCO Chairs scheduled and under way.
68. Bus Tour of the Region
Description: A familiarisation tour to enable councillors to be briefed on issues in parts of the region with which they are less familiar.
Outcome: Bus tour took place 25 & 26 January.
69. Natural heritage management
Description: Council adopting a set of integrated policies and actions that will improve heritage management throughout the region focused on natural character, landscape and features and natural heritage.
Outcome: A transitional document is being developed alongside key strategic direction & priorities. A series of papers will be presented to the Parks, Recreation and Heritage Forum.
Events
70. Commission an Auckland Events Strategy
Description: Development of an Events Strategy to recommend a framework for event evaluation. This will investigate event options such as: An Auckland concert, an international Rugby Sevens' competition, an Auckland equestrian event, a major motorsport event, a regional wine and food festival, hosting the Volvo Ocean Race in 2012, an Auckland garden show.
Outcome: The Events Strategy report to go before the ATEED board in March 2011 and presented to the council in April 2011.
71. Completion of a venue study on proposed Auckland region-wide theatre developments
Description: The venue study will identify the needs and market demand for professional performing arts venues to help guide and prioritise Auckland Council's provision of venues.
Outcome: The Mayor has instructed it include potential options for the refurbishment of the St James Theatre. To be completed by the end of February 2011 and submitted to the Culture, Arts and Events Forum in April 2011.
72. The 2017 World Masters Games
Description: Investigating the feasibility of bidding to host the 2017 World Masters Games.
Outcome: A report will be presented to the ATEED board in January 2011 and presented to the Strategy and Finance Committee in February 2011.
73. Annual Queen Street Golden Mile Race
Description: A proposal to develop an annual community fun run along Queen St.
Outcome: ATEED has been instructed to look into development of the event as a regular addition to Auckland's event calendar.
74. Greater promotion of Auckland Anniversary Weekend celebrations
Description: The Auckland Anniversary celebrations' marketing campaign will promote multiple events happening for Auckland Anniversary. This is the first Auckland Anniversary under the new Auckland Council.
Outcome: A communications and marketing plan and sponsorship was completed in December 2010.
Rugby World Cup
75. Lead Auckland's First XV for Rugby World Cup 2011
Description: A team of 15 distinguished Aucklanders, led by the Mayor as head coach, to act as advocates for Auckland's role as the hub of Rugby World Cup 2011.
Outcome: The Auckland First XV announced on 1 February 2011.
76. Champion the Rugby World Cup 2011 Schools Programme
Description: Champion Rugby World Cup 2011 to ensure all Auckland schools can learn and get involved in RWC 2011. The programme will use the excitement of the tournament to educate children on international cultures, major events and physical activity.
Outcome: The Mayor officially launched the Schools' Programme on 25 November 2011.
77. Launch the Stadium Walk-up Development
Description: Promote this Rugby World Cup project, a themed walking route from Auckland's CBD to Eden Park and an example of Auckland Council's shared spaces initiative.
Outcome: Launched by the Mayor on 4 December 2010.
78. Publicise the Gateway Plaza
Description: This suite of Wynyard Quarter developments links the waterfront areas with a public open space in conjunction with Rugby World Cup.
Outcome: The Mayor participated in the groundbreaking on 18 December 2010. The project will be complete in time for Rugby World Cup.
79. Prioritise the delivery of the CBD streetscapes' shared space projects for Rugby World Cup 2011
Description: This major infrastructure project creates pedestrian/vehicle shared spaces in Darby St, Lorne St, Fort St and Elliott St.
Outcome: Development of the shared spaces is currently under way for completion for the Rugby World Cup.
80. Announce the Rugby World Cup Training Facilities Development
Description: Development of training facilities for visiting teams in Auckland, beginning with Western Springs.
Outcome: The Mayor opened the Western Springs training venue on 14 December 2010.
81. Rugby World Cup i-SITE branding and theming
Description: Create a vibrant and themed brand for i-SITES in Auckland to promote Rugby World Cup.
Outcome: Early development of the branding and creative is under way.
82. Ensure the completion of the Eden/Dominion Soak-Hole
Description: Ensure the council prioritises the increase in storm water capability to provide more flood protection for Eden Park.
Outcome: The soak-hole will be fully complete in February 2011.
83. Eden Park Aquifer Project
Description: Part of a set of council Rugby World Cup initiatives to provide greater capacity within the Eden Park aquifer.
Outcome: This work will be completed in February 2011.
Waterfront
84. The Waterfront Master Plan
Description: The Waterfront Master Plan sets out the proposed development of the city's waterfront, specifically from the Wynyard Quarter to the Port. This is to ensure a coordinated and coherent approach according to agreed objectives and to ensure that single developments do not unacceptably compromise other developments or the waterfront as a whole.
Outcome: The Waterfront Development Agency is working on the Waterfront Master Plan.
85. Review of the cruise ship terminal
Description: A review of options for the location of Auckland's cruise ship terminal.
Outcome: Business case will be completed in March 2011.
86. Te Wero Bridge
Description: Te Wero Bridge will be at first an interim pedestrian and cycling bridge which will link the Eastern Viaduct Harbour (Te Wero Island) with the Wynyard Quarter. This will allow a promenade from the Viaduct down to the Tank Farm.
Outcome: Construction of the bridge is under way. The bridge is scheduled for completion in April.
Community Safety
87. Develop CCTV provision for main centres
Description: Analyse the current Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) provision in main centres and evaluate the feasibility of expanding CCTV provision within Auckland.
Outcome: An initial discussion and options paper will be submitted to the Governing Body in March 2011.
88. Standardising the Anti-Graffiti contracts
Description: Standardise the existing former council anti-graffiti contracts and provide a framework for a single response to graffiti across Auckland, dependant on existing contracts.
Outcome: Work is ongoing. The Auckland Graffiti Vandalism Taskforce is being established with completion of initial assessments of all existing contracts by May 2011.
89. Develop an Auckland anti family-violence taskforce
Description: Investigate the development of a Mayoral taskforce to raise awareness and consider response to family violence.
Outcome: A discussion paper will be submitted to the Community Safety Forum in April 2011.
90. Develop the P Free local initiatives
Description: Investigate opportunities to develop a Mayoral taskforce/symposium to raise awareness and consider community responses to the drug ''P''.
Outcome: The draft project plan has been completed with work continuing on possible structure and membership.
Urban Design
91. Establishment of the Auckland Urban Design Panel
Description: A panel to review major developments throughout the Auckland region which supports the Mayor's vision to make Auckland the most liveable city in the world.
Outcome: Councillors have been appointed and the first meeting convened on 7 December 2010.
92. Develop urban design principles for Auckland
Description: Establish urban design principles for Auckland to contribute to the work of the Auckland (Spatial) Plan.
Outcome: Project team is assembled and is currently undertaking development of the Auckland Urban Design.
Economic Development
93. Economic development strategy discussion paper
Description: An Economic Development Strategy, aligned with the Mayoral vision for a productive, high-value economy, to investigate opportunities to maximise economic potential for Auckland.
Outcome: Workshop completed on strategic options for economic development and a workshop report will be presented to the Economic Development Forum on 1 February 2011. Draft strategy to be completed by the end of February 2011.
94. Improve the resource and building consents process
Description: Make the resource and building consents process simpler and reduce processing times to improve customer satisfaction.
Outcome: A series of improvements are under way, including establishment of an expert customer advisory panel, case management and pre-application meetings to streamline complex consents. Further initiatives are currently in development.
95. Develop the "investor champions" business strategy
Description: A proposal to outline the Investor Champion roles and responsibilities, including processes and procedures for interactions between the Investor Champions and businesses; the council; other CCOs; and other stakeholders.
Outcome: The proposal will be presented to the ATEED Board in February 2011 and submitted to the Economic Development Forum in March 2011.
96. Maintenance of a local economic development focus for Auckland
Description: Investigate maintaining a local economic development focus within the new Auckland to provide visible access for Auckland's small to large businesses to economic support and development across a North, South, East, West and Central spread. This will include a sub-regional business awards programme.
Outcome: A report confirming the role of the local offices and a proposal for enhanced local business awards will be presented to the ATEED Board in February 2011 and submitted to the Economic Development Forum in March 2011. 97.
97. Development of an international city centre master plan for Auckland
Description: A strategic and long-term plan for the development of Auckland's city centre in relation to development of Auckland's waterfront and the city fringe.
Outcome: The Auckland Future Vision Committee will consider and adopt a methodology for the development of the master plan on 16 February 2011.
98. Evaluate Auckland Council's inherited international partnerships
Description: A review of Auckland's approximately 30 inherited international relationships to ensure their potential economic, cultural and social benefits are maximised and recommend a path forward through the transition process for Auckland Council.
Outcome: The report will be finalised for presentation to the council in March 2011.
99. Review of the Business Improvement Districts
Description: A review to standardise and maximise the economic potential of existing Business Improvement Districts within the new council structure.
Outcome: A proposed strategy is under way to evaluate the current BIDs and potential and requirements for the future.
100. Champion the Auckland Guide
Description: The Auckland Guide is Tourism Auckland's primary piece of marketing material for customers, and is the annual Auckland guide containing information and multiple maps covering the entire region.
Outcome: 400,000 copies of the Auckland Guide have been produced and distributed nationally through the i-SITE network.
