Volunteer Service Abroad is holding its 50th anniversary photo exhibition, in the Australis Room at Britomart until June 24. It features 50 photos from the years of Kiwis volunteering overseas. VSA was formed at a meeting at Victoria University on March 30, 1962, and Sir Edmund Hillary became its first president in February, 1963, and held that role for 13 years.
The first VSA volunteers went on assignment to Thailand in July 1963.
