Lifeline is calling on Aucklanders to lend their ears (and their hearts) and begin training to become Volunteer Telephone Counsellors.
"Becoming a Lifeline 24/7 telephone counsellor is challenging, but the rewards of learning lifelong counselling skills whilst helping people cope during tough times are immense" said Rita Inch, Lifeline Auckland's Director of Counselling Services.
Once accepted, volunteers have the opportunity to attain NZQA or Lifeline qualifications with the focus on personal growth and counselling skills that can be applied to many aspects of family and work life.
Volunteers come from all walks of life and have all sorts of personal experiences - no specific qualifications or particular work experiences are required.
Lifeline Auckland's call centre is in Remeura and the 24/7 service enables volunteers to fit their hours around work and family commitments.
