A Picton businessman is fighting to put his picturesque Marlborough township - quite literally - on the map.
John Reuhman is a member of the Picton Marlborough Sounds and Havelock Visitor Economy Steering Group, which wants the town included in MetService forecasts.
Twenty South Island cities and towns are on the forecaster's map, but Picton is not one of them.
Reuhman can't understand why such an important arrival and departure point isn't one of them.
Picton was the only land transport entrance and exit point on the South Island, yet it had never featured on the national weather, he said.
