Guest nights are at an all-time high this summer at Castlepoint Holiday Park and Motel, say site managers Lynell and Kerry Ellis.
From the start of December there have been more than 7200 guest nights at the site, up 14 per cent on last year.
Mrs Ellis said it has been their most successful year to date thanks to the wonderful weather.
"What attracts people here is the beautiful beach and surrounds," she said.
"Castlepoint has a beautiful and dramatic coastline. It is a safe swimming beach and has great fishing. There are very few beachfront holiday parks left in New Zealand."
Mrs Ellis said they had been very lucky this year with no particular challenges over the holiday period. "The biggest highlight is seeing everybody having a wonderful time and enjoying their stay with us."
The popularity of the campsite was reflected by the site managers' collection of 50 cent coins used to operate the site's showers, which filled several ice cream containers.
