More FM's breakfast DJ, Brent Gare, is getting married and here's the good news ? you're all invited.
Well, almost.
Brent, 26, is tying the knot with his long-term partner, Trudi Jarrett, 29, at the Copthorne Hotel in Masterton on Saturday 8 October.
All you have to do to secure your invite is phone in to Brent's daily show. If you happen to be on the "lucky line" that day, your name will be added to the guest list and you will be put into a weekly draw to win a prize worth up to $1000.
Recruiting guests via the radio might seem an unusual way to go about organising a wedding, but Brent isn't one to do things by halves.
He and Trudi hadn't planned on setting a date until Mark Childs from Mortgage Link Wairarapa told More FM he wanted to do a promotion.
Brent says they tossed a few ideas around until he came up with his brainwave.
"I said: Everyone loves a wedding. Why don't I get married?"
And so Brent's Big Fat Wairarapa Wedding was born.
It's not every bride's dream for her big day to be a major marketing event, but Trudi is apparently taking it all in her stride.
"She was certainly very happy about getting married," said Brent. "She was like, what the hell, let's get married."
Brent's father was a little more circumspect. His reaction was, "That's bloody typical of you."
Brent's Big Fat Wairarapa Wedding has been one of More FM's most successful promotions, attracting a "huge" number of callers each day.
It's probably the first time a New Zealand DJ has run a promotion inviting listeners to his wedding so the 200 lucky winners will be making history as they watch Brent and Trudi say their vows.
After the register has been signed, there will be a draw for the main prize in the promotion ? a second honeymoon to Queensland with flights provided by Freedom Air.
Although Brent and Trudi's reception is a private affair ? limited to the 100 or so guests they actually know ? whoever wins the big prize stands a good chance of bumping into the happy couple and their son, Braedan, 2, in the near future.
The Gares will be honeymooning in Queensland.
