The November 22 Dannevirke Weaner sale had vendors leaving happy and buyers a little disappointed.
PGG Wrightson's Stock Agent Tim Pickering said the sale was very sound.
With strong buying interest from the Hawkes Bay prices were higher on average than in the first sale.
There were 400 Friesian weaner bulls for sale and prices generally exceeded $500, although lighter stock ranged between $470 and $490.
Top price of $540 was lower than the last sale but the average was higher.
Just over 100 beef crosses were extremely sought after, the top price of $800 being paid for four from Gardners Road Farms.
While some reached the low $600 mark the majority were in the high $500's.
Just on 150 weaner heifers ranged between $400 and $590 with the top prices going to top animals.
The next sale in Dannevirke is on December 13.
