Property listed as having a capital value of $1,410,000.
Actor Karl Urban is putting his million-dollar Auckland home up for sale - but don't worry, he's not moving very far, he says.
The Kiwi heart-throb, famous for his many roles including in The Chronicles of Riddick, The Bourne Supremacy, The Lord of The Rings and Shortland Street, has decided to put his Herne Bay family home on the market.
The property in Jervois Rd is listed on the QV website as having a capital value of $1,410,000 and has been home to Urban, his wife, Natalie, and their two sons for a number of years.
Urban told the Herald yesterday that he thought they were "a little nuts" for selling the property.
"It's been a wonderful family home. Big rooms, a fantastic flow and stunning harbour views. I think we're a little nuts to sell this house. It's the most amazing family home right in the heart of Herne Bay.
"I think what we'll miss the most is just relaxing on the upstairs deck with a glass of vino, watching the sun set across the harbour."
Urban is shooting the Star Trek sequel and is also preparing for his next role, in Red 2, later in theyear.
He said there were no plans to move overseas and the familywere actually looking for a placenot far from where they arenow.
"I often get asked if I'd move to LA. I just absolutely love living in Herne Bay.
"It's got a great school, awesome cafes and really lovely, interesting people."
Urban, who was born and bred in Wellington, said of the area: "It's like a Wellington microclimate. We are definitely planning to stay in the area."
The sale of the property is being handled by Custom Residential Real Estate.
There are four bedrooms, three bathrooms and two garages. Some of the grand features include beamed ceilings, a timber staircase, large windows and timber floors.
The listing on the Custom website describes the property as a "big-hearted family classic" that is "rich with character".
The house will be auctioned next Wednesday at 11am, unless a sale is made before then.
