A campaign calling for Auckland to allow more refugees into the city is gaining momentum.
The Refugees are Welcome in Auckland campaign has seen young volunteers taking to the streets with placards and talking with members of the public about the crisis facing people fleeing conflicts in the Middle East.
The group has over 500 "likes" on Facebook and organiser Bex Silver said they had engaged with over 300 people on the streets in the four days they had been campaigning.
"So far people have been very responsive and supportive and had very positive attitudes," she said.
"We want to get as much awareness and engage with as many people as possible."
Silver was hopeful that the campaign would run for at least two more weeks.
